About the department

The Department of Creative Arts Therapies offers the only Master’s level training in creative arts therapies in Canada.

Its commitment to maintaining the integrity of each therapeutic art modality while fostering a working understanding of the principles of the allied arts in therapy enables graduates to establish innovative, interdisciplinary, therapeutic partnerships in the workplace. The graduate programs have been instrumental in the expansion of this growing field by setting vocational standards, producing trained professionals, and promoting awareness of the benefits of the arts therapies among health care administrators.

The Creative Arts Therapies graduate programs offer comprehensive academic and clinical training to allow students to attain a high level of professional competence in the use of the visual, musical and dramatic arts in therapy. Through rigorous theoretical study, clinical practice, and research relevant to the creative arts therapies, graduate students receive superior education in preparation for ethical, culturally sensitive psychotherapeutic practice.
